Matrons of Mystery and A Winter Haunting
First up we’ve got a couple of gems from the sharp mind of Sue Savage. At the time of writing they’re in the DriveThru Black Friday sale. Not sure when that ends so act fast! (or just wait a bit and then grab them. At a combined (and full) price of just over 11 dollars it hopefully won’t break the bank)
“There’s been a murder”
That’s how many TV serials seem to start. Or at least the way I remember Murder She Wrote beginning. I used to love watching that one.
And that’s how the blurb starts for Matrons of Mystery. A Powered by the Apocalypse game of sleuthing sexagenarians.
It’s a classic set-up. You live in a quaint little village, living a quaint little life. And then someone knocks off Tony the plasterer. The police don’t have a clue so it’s up to you and Doris* to solve the crime yourselves.
*other names are available
A Winter Haunting is an Edwardian ghost story adventure for Cthulhu Dark and other games. Set in early 20th century England, it starts with the well-to-do having a good old-fashioned get-together and, by the looks of it, ends badly.
Oh, did I mention it’s set at Christmas too? That makes it festive. Not certain about cherry though…
There’s an actual play available, if you want to check things out for yourself. Make sure they’re not too scary.

Pulp Heroines
Next up, we have some badass heroines for all your pulp TTRPG miniature needs.
This Kickstarter project introduces “The Gang”. 28mm pewter minis ready to kick ass and take names.
They’re rocking fashions from the early 20th century but I suspect they’re too tooled up to appear in A Winter Haunting. Besides the nearly obligatory trench-coats, they’re armed with a selection of weapons running from the “traditional”: machine gun or dual pistols, to the sublime: Blanche with the pistol/wrench combo and Ruth who appears to be armed, with, well, an arm. I’m sure there’s a good story behind that one!
This is Bad Squiddo’s 14th Kickstarter project, and it’s already funded. But you better get in quick if small pewter noir is your thing as the project wraps up tomorrow!
The Hearth Magazine
Last up we’ve got a dedicated new TTRPG magazine coming in the new year. And they’re currently seeking submissions!
If you’re interested in writing about TTRPGs - and getting paid! - they’re looking for pitches now for their launch. You can write about almost anything TTRPG related, outside of Dungeons and Dragons. As they say, DnD is already well-supported. They want to support all the other games.
So if you want to write about the hobby, or create materials for a game, or maybe a mini-game, get in touch with them!
You can find out more on their site.
That’s a wrap folks! Short one this week. Remember to let us know here if you have news you want to share.
Until next time!
